Our Team

Norm started working at this store in 1974, back when it was Gordon’s IGA. He left for college in 1976, came back in 1977, and went on to work in nearly every department before becoming Store Director in the mid-1980s. In 2015, he and Myra bought the store from founder Gordon Reay. More than fifty years in, Norm’s goal is the same: be the friendliest store in town.

Myra grew up in Kearny and co-owns the store with Norm, which is why locals call it Norm’s IGA & Myra’s Too. Our famous homemade Mexican-style chorizo is made from her family recipe. Myra has also spent years collecting photos and artifacts from the area’s mining history, now on display in the store. Ask her for a tour.

Born and raised in Kearny, Sondra is a Ray High School graduate who’s called this community home her whole life. Married for 29 years, she’s a mother of two and grandmother of four. Sondra has been part of the Norm’s team for 8 years, the last 6 as Store Manager.

Born in Kearny and raised in Dripping Springs, Paul is a Ray High School graduate. He’s married, a father of four, and has been part of the Norm’s IGA team for 6 years. Paul leads our meat department, where every cut is prepared in-store daily.

While not a Kearny native, Wesley attended Ray schools from 1980 to 1989 and got his start in the kitchen right here in town at the GKI, his very first job. With over 40 years of kitchen experience, he’s new to the manager role and looking forward to serving the community that gave him his start.

Produce Manager at Norm’s by day, master baker and cook by night! Sabrina is a Kearny local and proud mom to 5 incredible gremlins and an energetic pack of pets – 2 huskies, 1 stray brindle, and 1 cat. Her favorite moments are spent in the kitchen making messes and magic with her kids.

Born in Thailand, Chef Ay brings authentic Thai flavors to Norm’s every Wednesday, cooking up a rotating menu made fresh from scratch. It’s one of the most anticipated days of the week in our deli.

Tara has split time between Arizona and California over the years, with Arizona as home base for most of that time. A Ray High School graduate with a degree in early childhood education, Tara is married and a proud stepparent to three beautiful kids. Tara has been part of the Norm’s IGA team for 7 years.

Juan has called Kearny home on and off for years and now lives here full time. Happily married, Juan is a parent of six and a grandparent of four, plus two bonus grandkids. Juan has been part of the Norm’s IGA & Myra’s Too team for 3 years and loves family, the job, and this town.

Born and raised in Kearny, Ziporah has called this community home for a lifetime. A 2022 Ray High School graduate, Ziporah has been part of the Norm’s IGA team for three and a half years.

Darrell grew up in the Southern California desert town of Palmdale and spent more than 20 years as a graphic designer in the Los Angeles area. Darrell has called Kearny home for nearly a decade and would never go back.
